Born in Yilan, Taiwan, Jack Huang is a vibraphonist, pianist, percussionist, and composer whose music moves between stillness and transformation. Deeply rooted in the belief that music is a vessel for healing, his sound bridges East and West — weaving the meditative lyricism of his Taiwanese heritage with the improvisational freedom of New York’s jazz scene. His music is both intimate and expansive, offering listeners a sanctuary for reflection, resonance, and renewal.

Huang’s artistry is guided by the understanding that sound holds a unique power to soothe and heal what words cannot. His compositions balance openness with depth, allowing emotion to unfold naturally — from quiet tenderness to bold expression. He describes his work as “a search for light through resonance,” where each note becomes a purposeful frequency to connect memory, place, and spirit, offering a profound sense of comfort to the listener.

His debut live EP, Seasons (2024), captures the essence of his creative voice — blending the organic spontaneity of live performance with emotional precision. Across its movements, Huang explores impermanence, transition, and renewal, inviting listeners into a world where change itself becomes a form of beauty and a source of emotional restoration.

A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music with a Master of Music in Jazz Vibraphone, Huang studied with acclaimed artists Joel Ross, Marc Cary, Jaleel Shaw, and Patricia Brennan, refining a language that merges lyricism with rhythmic depth. In 2025, he was selected as a Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Artist at The Kennedy Center, an international residency led by Jason Moran. There, he worked closely with an extraordinary faculty including Marc Cary, Mimi Jones, Nate Smith, Jimmy Greene, and Carmen Lundy, deepening his approach to storytelling and composition through mentorship that emphasized individuality and honesty in sound.

Huang has performed widely across the United States, including Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Dizzy’s Club, The Jazz Gallery, Smalls Jazz Club, Nublu, Andy’s Jazz Club & Restaurant, and Jazz Showcase. Reflecting his versatility and reputation within the creative community, he has also been featured as a sideman on several highly anticipated, forthcoming albums recorded in New York across 2025 and 2026. Expanding his global footprint as a bandleader and educator, he is the leader of the JSQ Trio, steering their extensive tour across Taiwan and Japan in 2026. This high-profile tour featured a series of educational masterclasses and workshops alongside their performances, blending original compositions with clinical teaching and cross-cultural exchange.

In addition to leading the JSQ Trio, Huang is the co-leader of the 3:130 Trio, a cross-cultural ensemble formed with musicians from Japan and South Korea that tours Asia annually, sharing original works that merge diverse cultural backgrounds with the creative pulse of New York jazz. Globally, his performances include 宅 · Jhouse Coffee Bar & Jazz in Taiwan; No Room For Square (Tokyo), Le Club Jazz (Kyoto), and Studio T-Bone (Osaka) in Japan; as well as Club Evans (Seoul) and Gyeongbokgung Classic (Seoul) in South Korea. His festival appearances include the Winter Jazz Festival, Jersey City Latin Jazz Festival, and Taichung Jazz Festival.
